Healtheon says it plans to merge with WebMD

Article Abstract:

Healtheon and WebMD are expected to merge in a 50-50 stock-swap deal. Healtheon had a loss of $54 million in 1998 with revenue of $48.8 million. WebMD lost $7.8 million and had revenue of only $75,000 for 9 months in 1998. The two are supported by Microsoft, Excite and Intel. WebMD already had alliances in place, such as one with DuPont Co. for life-sciences content to the Web site.
