Article Abstract:
New Zealand's wine industry has in the past decade established an international following and won a host of awards, but only now is it turning seriously to exports. Parts of the island nation are ideal for wine grapes, with a range of microclimates, the sea nearby, and excellent latitudes. It is best known for its Sauvignon Blancs and other white wines, which can compete with the best in quality but have long lagged in quantity. A bumper crop this year may change that, but is also likely to force prices into line.

Article Abstract:
India's 1991 economic reforms made possible the meteoric growth of small companies such as software maker Mastek. The changes made it possible for firms with little access to loans to tap the stock market for capital, which combined with an overall improving business climate to boost growth both domestically and internationally. The Indian software industry grew 42% in the year ending Mar 1994, and predicts 60%-70% growth annually for some years to come.

Article Abstract:
Asian microchip makers pay large royalties to Western microchip companies because this would mean more earnings for their own patented microchips. NMB of Japan, and South Korean companies Samsung Electronics, Goldstar Electron and Hyundai Electronics are some of the companies that have been affected by the increased royalties. US-based Texas Instruments is expected to earn an estimated $400 million in royalty payments for 1992.
