Article Abstract:

Consumer products companies are introducing new cleaning products that provide convenience and kill disease-causing microbes. These new products range from Procter & Gamble's Dyrel for cleaning clothes usually reserved for the dry cleaner to SC Johnson's Oust Fabric Refesher for removing odors from fabrics. The creation of these new categories is helping packaged-goods companies grow revenues at a time when traditional categories such as laundry detergents are reaching maturity.
