Ready or not, the online revolution hits Asia

Article Abstract:

The Internet is already having a major impact on Asia in the midst of a personal-computing and telecommunications revolution. The impact will be felt initially in the supply chains that Internet is a part of. Contrary to what some managers feel about the negligible effects of the Internet, companies that do not offer online service are risking losing their business. At the same time, adapting to the technological revolution is easy for the Asian market whose characteristics are particularly well suited to e-commerce and the Internet.

The more information expatriate executives possess as they enter into negotiations for compensation, the better off they will be because they will know for what to ask. This is especially important as corporations are reducing hardship allowances and other perks for overseas managers. The key for these executives is to know what the companies are willing to offer during negotiations, what it will be flexible about and how the salaries and perks fit combine to form overall compensation.
