France: Geodis extends its IBM contract

Based on a preceding contract of FFr 1bn which was signed in 1999, Geodis has signed a facilities management contract with IBM. This contract involves unfurling a data processing system at the European level. The system will include the operation of AS/4000 servers, which will use logistics applications. The contract also involves a range of computer services. This is a 10-year contract, as was the 1999 contract.

FRANCE: WEB HOST MARKET FORECAST

According to IDC, the French website host market will be worth FFr 5.8bn in turnover (not including associated services), by 2004, compared to FFr 594mn in 1999. The largest trend is that less and less clients are demanding that their sites be communally hosted on one server, representing only 37% of webhost revenue in 2004, compared to 85% in 1999. IDC forecasts that the webhost market should grow by 58% on average by 2004.

FRANCE: COMPUTACENTRE REPORTS INCREASED TURNOVER

Computacenter France is undergoing a revival following difficulties in the first half of 2000. For FY2001, this subsidiary of Computacenter is set to see a 20% rise in turnover to FFr 2.7bn, and France will account for almost 15% of total group turnover, from 11% in 2000. Pre-tax net profit for 20001 is forecast at FFr 32mn, and the company plans to increase its workforce by 200 people.
