Article Abstract:

The development of Texan art is evident from works to be exhinited at the 2000 Biennial Exhibition, at New York's Whitney Museum of American art. Nine Texan artists are represented. Texan art appears to have moved away from regional folksiness and its previous wildcatter mentality. Video productions, bronze sculptures and paintings are included among the Texans' works. James Drake, Joseph Havel and Veronon Fisher are among the artists. The development of Texan art is part of a wider move whereby regionalism has declined and California and New York have become less dominant.
