FRANCE: PLEASURE - STRONG TREND AT SIAL 2000

Article Abstract:

Pleasure is a strong consumer trend in 2000. Of the new products which will be presented at the coming SIAL 2000 trade fair, 37% are betting on pleasure. This is expressed by the variety of senses (27%), cosmopolitanism (6%), sophistication (5%) and tradition (4%). According to Adriant, the sensory evaluation institute, pleasure's strong comback is due to the fact that consumers who move in a world where everything has become sterile and impersonal, increasingly seek sensations, particularly in taste. Today, consumers want to buy healthy, balanced foods, while enjoying themselves. Therefore, manufacturers are striving to combine health and pleasure. It is necessary to base a product on the major consumer trends of pleasure, health, and quality in order to guarantee the success of a product and ensure its survival.
