Western Telecom is counting on the ADSL as a support for its range of services at the European level. The telecoms operator is offering a range of high speed IP services based on the ADSL, via France Telecom's Turbo IP offer. The offer helps small and medium businesses access to Western Telecom's unified messaging, telephone and Internet connection services at speeds of 256 KBPS and 1 MBPS.

Though available in Paris and the Hauts-de-Seine departement only, the ADSL-based service by Internext guarantees a throughput worth up to 320 KBPS in sending mode and up to 2 MBPS in reception mode. Available from the standard copper pair line on a permanent basis, the high speed service, reserved to companies, is called Internext DSL. Internext is an Internet provider.

Broadnet, the local radio loop operator which holds 15 regional licences in France, is introducing its first offer in Paris (15 districts out of 16) and in 17 cities in the neighbouring departement of Hauts-de-Seine. The operator targets 72,500 companies there, while the service should be available in Lyon and Marseille in September 2001. Prices start at FFr 3,325 for a 128-KBPS Internet connection, while installation prices range between FFr 3,000 and 7,000.
