Dim future: Japanese derivatives

Futures trading in Japan is one the decline, while Nikkei futures traded on the Singapore International Monetary Exchange have had a 30% rise. The Osaka Stock Exchange has been the big loser. Extremely strict trading rules are thought to be the main reason traders are forsaking Japanese exchanges.

Into the red: Japanese banks

Article Abstract:

Bank stocks were always a hot commodity in Japan, until bad loans by them burned a lot of their shareholders. After a recent rally by the Japanese stock exchange, bank stocks regained their earlier value. Much depends on how Japan will decide to tax the banks for bad debts.
