Body Shop ends talks on takeover by Omnilife

Body Shop International PLC saw its share value fall by 16% after it ended takeover negotiations with Grupo Omnilife SA. Omnilife claimed it had already reached a preliminary deal to acquire Body Shop.

Digital age is set to hit U.K. with start of new BSkyB service

Article Abstract:

British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC (BSkyB) is launching on Oct. 1, 1998, its new satellite service called Sky Digital. The digital service, made possible by pouring in US$171 million in investments, will provide subscribers with around 150 video and music channels to choose from. Clearer picture and sound quality will also be availed from the service. BSkyB will offer the new digital service to British consumers in 1999 after it implements the 60-million pounds sterling advertising campaign it proposes to undertake to lure more subscribers.
