Article Abstract:

Iain MacDonald trained as an architect after serving in the paratroops. He commbines an artistic idealism with the strong resolve to succeed and a single minded idea of his own goals. MacDonald worked for large practices during the 1980s and set up his own business in 1992. Based on the atelier model, Iain MacDonald Arquitectura Diseno accepts a broad range of work and emphasises its international focus, prefering to use a network of professionals in London, Italy and Japan. MacDonald's largest commission is the masterplan for a medical technology campus in Scotland.

A pioneer partially restored to its former glory

Article Abstract:

The Grade I-listedFinsbury Health Centre in London, England, has been partially restored, including one wing'ssouth-easterly facade, the terrace and the roofing. The building now resembles its originalappearance when first built in 1938 by Berthold Lubetkin and Tecton, but further funding isrequired to complete the work. The first phase was funded by Camden and Islington FHSA andthe Camden and Islington Community Health Services NHS Trust, with funding now to besought from the North Thames Regional Health Authority.

Building a flexible surgery on a difficult urban site

Article Abstract:

Architect, Stock Woolstencroft has designed a medical centre service an inner city area in London, England. The centre is the product of Stock Woolstencroft's active approach to finding work. It selected the site and approached doctors working in the area. The building combines the need for security and privacy with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. There is flexible accomodation, allowing future expansion of services.
