Denmark: Furniture exports forecast to fall

Article Abstract:

Danish furniture exports are forecast to drop in the first half of 2002, according to a report compiled by Danske Bank for The Association of Danish Furniture Industry. Exports are expected to rise again in the second half of 2002 provided that the trade outlook gets brighter. According to Danske Bank, Danish furniture producers are expected to lose further market share on the German market whereas exports to Norway are not expected to drop. Export prospects to Italy, France and Holland, are also expected to deteriorate despite a considerable increase in the past year.

DENMARK:FURNITURE MAKERS WANT TO CO-OPERATE

A survey conducted by consultant Ove C. Andersen on behalf of TIC-Viborg into the furniture making business shows that almost seven out of ten companies in this business are interested in co-operation with others in the business in order to boost their competitiveness.

Denmark: Licentia cuts staffing levels

Article Abstract:

Licentia Group, one of the biggest furniture companies in Scandinavia, is to cut 90 jobs from its 770-strong work-force next year due to the DKr47mn loss it reported for the fiscal 2000/01. Licentia anticipates a DKr5-10mn loss for the current fiscal year.
