Article Abstract:

The civil war between the UNITA movement, headed by Jonas Savimbi, and the ruling MPLA was thought to have reached a peace accord. UNITA, however, has not kept its terms of the accord, so the United Nations is considering sanctions, but such sanctions may not be effective.

Peace talks are being discussed once again in Angola after a turmoil broke out once again after elections. UNITA attacks on northern cities to dispute the election results have been condemned by the US and other western countries.
