Crisis, again: the Korean peninsula

Article Abstract:

North Korea has sent armed troops into the demilitarized zone on three occasions, renewing rumors of imminent conflict, but neither South Korea nor the US seem to be taking the threat seriously. The South Korean government did perhaps attempt to make political use of the situation during elections.

Korea counts the cost of friendship

Article Abstract:

Hopes that Korea may again be reunified were dampened when South Korea noticed how much German reunification cost the former West Germany. Talks between the North and South have bogged down over the issue of nuclear inspection, probably to the South's relief.
