Civil traffic accelerates

Article Abstract:

Montenegro, Yugoslavia's two civil airports, Podgorica and Tivat, are experiencing a resurgence in passenger and cargo traffic in 2000 as the republic's tourist industry begins a slow recovery. Summer 2000 has shown high load factors on international flights, with near 100% capacity being achieved on most routes. However, the continuing political tension between the Montenegro government and the Federal Yugoslav authorities in the city of Belgrade has impeded foreign investment and the return of tourist trade to pre-1991 levels.
