China holds the key to Asian markets

Article Abstract:

Asia's merger and acquisitions activity is down compared with last year, but recent deals have advisers optimistic that the market is reviving. The focus is on northern Asia, notably China, South Korea, a to a lesser extent Hong Kong. Some analysts are bullish about China, in part because of U.S.-based Emerson Network Power's acquisition of Avansys Power from Huawei Technology, which marks the largest mergers and acquisitions deal between a private Chinese company and a foreign investor. The potential growth of the mergers and acquisitions market in China and Asia is discussed.
