Article Abstract:

IBM (US), supplier of information technology including hardware, will invest USD 8.8 mil, CEK 360 mil, in Brno by 2006. The firm will build an expert centre there to provide services in the field of information technology. The centre will employ at least 200 domestic specialists, mainly computer operators and specialists in software and back-up systems. The project, which has received investment incentives from the Czech government, will ensure about 300 indirect jobs, besides the direct jobs. The expert centre will ensure complex services, mainly for large-scale clients from the field of IBM outsourcing services throughout Europe. It will participate in the control of all-firm networks, the development of applications and the formation of the supply of new services.

Article Abstract:

Invensys CR (Sternberk, Czech Republic), thermostat manufacturer, has commissioned a new USD 10 mil production plant. The plant has 200 employees and plans to increase the number by another 100 shortly. All its production is exported to Lomazzo, Italy, where a central distribution warehouse and another other chilling equipment thermostat production line are. The warehouse supplies components to Electrolux, Whirpool, Bosch, Zanussi and AEG. The plant in Sternberk is a part of the multinational firm Invensys (London, UK).
