Article Abstract:

IBM (US), supplier of information technology including hardware, will invest USD 8.8 mil, CEK 360 mil, in Brno by 2006. The firm will build an expert centre there to provide services in the field of information technology. The centre will employ at least 200 domestic specialists, mainly computer operators and specialists in software and back-up systems. The project, which has received investment incentives from the Czech government, will ensure about 300 indirect jobs, besides the direct jobs. The expert centre will ensure complex services, mainly for large-scale clients from the field of IBM outsourcing services throughout Europe. It will participate in the control of all-firm networks, the development of applications and the formation of the supply of new services.

Halls grow near Klasterec

Article Abstract:

Pittsburgh Corning CR (Klasterec nad Ohri, Czech Republic), insulation material manufacturer, should commission a new plant in Jun 2001. The plant's production area is 4,000 sq mt. The plant will have 50 employees during the first stage. Its annual turnover should be CEK 150 mil during the first stage. The new plant will work raw material from Belgium. The firm will manufacture insulation material named FoamglasR, which is based on foam glass. So far about CEK 80 mil have been invested here. The project is ensured by Cheming (Usti nad Labem, Czech Republic). The project's investor is Pittsburgh Corning Europe (PCE) whose parent firm is based in the US.

Asko will build a plant in Svitavy

Article Abstract:

Asko CZ (Czech Republic), industrial lighting fitting manufacturer, plans to build a production plant in Svitavy, the Czech Republic, by 2003. The plant should employ 200 persons by 2003. A total of 500 jobs should be set up at the plant during the next five years. Asko CZ, representative of Asko (Belgium) in the Czech Republic, should become the first investor in a new industrial zone with an area of 40 ha in Svitavy.
