Brazil plans investment

Article Abstract:

Infraero Aeroportos Brasileiros, which administers and operates 67 airports, is stepping up investments in its airport infrastructure. After spending US$1.025 billion in four years, the present budget, envisages total investments for the four years to 2004 of US$1.145 billion. The largest amount will be spent on Sao Paulo Guarulhos Airport, which serves primarily the international market, with construction of a new Terminal 3 starting 2001, and expansion of terminals 1 and 2 nearing completion.

Lufthansa grasps IT opportunities

Article Abstract:

The North American division of Lufthansa Systems increasing the scope of its services beyond its traditional core business in airline, airport and transportation-related markets. Its managing director, John Meier-Funke, said they will continue to serve the needs of their core markets from baggage reconciliation, cargo handling to customs clearance. However, they will start to strongly market their internet/intranet/web hosting, field services, help desk/call center capabilities.

Tallinn plans for threefold traffic rise

Article Abstract:

Estonia's Tallinn International Airport has drawn up a master plan up to 2015 to cope with a projected threefold increase in passenger traffic. The main terminal at the airport has been rehabilitated to handle 1.4 million passengers annually, or 850 passengers during peak hours. The airport has a 3,070-meter runway that can handle all types of aircraft, with Category 1 landing capability and ICAO Category 8 crash fire rescue rating.
