The US gross domestic product rose 2.2% in 1992, which will help boost recovery in Britain. The US receives 11% of Britain's exports, so a strong US dollar should help profits. Lower interest rates in Britain are stimulating retail sales.

The Conservative Party of Britain supports the 1942 Beveridge report on public welfare for five reasons. Among them are targeting the factors which create poverty and designing benefits to remedy those factors.
