Article Abstract:

The recovery efforts of Asian economies from the damage caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) are discussed. The governments are preparing economic-recovery packages to support the businesses affected by SARS. Airlines and retailers are offering low prices to promote sales, and the big companies are removing their travel restrictions imposed on the employees. The concentration in Hong Kong too is on improving the domestic spending and tourism collections.

The Asia Injury Prevention Foundation, a United States charitable organization, is tackling the problem of Vietnam's traffic deaths due to motorbikers not wearing helmets. The Vietnamese government reports there are approximately 35 traffic-related injuries daily and nearly three times that number in injuries ? equivalent to a jumbo jet crashing every nine or so days.
