Australian sale

Article Abstract:

Australian airport operator TBI is selling its airport interests to a consortium of international companies, including Hastings Fund Management and BAA. TBI is asking anywhere from 45 million to 60 million pounds sterling for its assets. These include a 30% stake in the Hobart airport; a 19.9% stake in the Northern Territories Airports, including Darwin; a 16% stake in Perth. TBI acquired its assets in Sep 1999 from Airport Group International for 88.6 million pounds sterling in cash and shares.

Terma expands global business

Article Abstract:

Denmark's Terma Elektronik has acquired the air traffic control (ATC) equipment business of Crimp Voice + Data, also of Denmark. Terma says the acquisition will allow the company to become a significant player in the ATC market. The company manufactures the Scanter X-band surface movement radar while Crimp owns the ATIS, VOLMET and Pre-Departure Clearance system. Products of both companies are installed at airports from London's Heathrow to Amsterdam's Schiphol.

Ownership change

Article Abstract:

Barringer Technologies, the USA maker of trace drug and explosive detection equipment, has merged with a subsidiary of Smiths Group Plc, the aerospace, engineering and medical group. Smiths will purchase all outstanding Barringer shares subject to shareholder approval in 2nd qtr 2001 in a transaction that values Barringer at approximately US$87 million. Barringer's detection systems include the Ionscan and Sabre detection units.
