Article Abstract:

The Americans with Disabilities Act does not cover conditions like poor eyesight that can be treated, according to a Supreme Court ruling. This means that people can be too disabled to retain a job, without being disabled enough to have protection under the Act. Employers are relieved at the Supreme Court decision, though protections still appear to be expanding in the US, and court rulings include a decision that schools are liable if one pupil sexually harasses another.

Article Abstract:

US employment law creates burdens for employers and makes US workplaces among the most regulated world wide. Employers have to take reasonable measures to accommodate employees with disabilities in line with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and this includes back injuries. Same-sex harassment has been ruled illegal. A strictly enformed policy against harassment is once possible defense for employers, but they may have to carry the burden of the proof.
