America cracks down: Japanese banks

Article Abstract:

Bank regulators are looking at Japanese banks operating in the US. Especially in California, these banks have been on a 'foreign-lending frenzy.' Almost every new office complex in Los Angeles in the late 1980 was financed by Japanese banks. Now the value of these buildings, many empty, has dropped.
