ASM Lithography NV posted a decline of 95% in its net profit for the first-half of 1999. The company was hurt by a slump in the semiconductor industry. ASM's net profit in the period dropped from 64 million euros during the same period in 1998 to 3.5 million euros in 1999. The semiconductor equipment manufacturer posted a 10% decline in sales to 408 million euros compared to 455 million during the same period in 1998.
