A test ban for all

Article Abstract:

India has turned against the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty it proposed over 40 years ago. The main contention is that the treaty will stop testing by nuclear powers but will not disarm them. But the disarmament movement will be damaged if India decides to block the treaty.

Nuclear pests

Article Abstract:

Pres Clinton hopes that continuing the nuclear test ban will help win an extension of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1995. Stopping testing does not necessarily stop proliferation however, and it will do little to keep countries like Iran and North Korea in line.

For a nuclear safer world

Article Abstract:

All nuclear weapons testing should not be banned until all countries with nuclear capability have agreed to give up their weapons. Only by demonstrating that their nuclear weapons work can the world powers deter smaller countries from using their nuclear devices.
