The automobile industry in Great Britain is set to experience remarkable growth, due mainly to Japanese-owned manufacturing plants. About 1!3 of cars made in Britain will be Japanese by 1994, and Britain will be a main exporter to continental Europe.

Britain manufactures about 90% of automobiles used in racing competitions, and Ferrari SpA plans to make all of its racing automobiles in Britain. Ferrari has hired a British manager and designer to run the operation in Britain.

Driven up: car prices

Article Abstract:

A report by Britain's Monopolies and Mergers Commission shows that car prices there are higher than in most countries. Part of the reason seems to be the high number of company cars that come with most managerial jobs there.
