Article Abstract:

Martin Lee and Szeto Wah, two vocal liberal legislators, are unable to find a law firm to represent their defamation suit against Simon Li, a lawyer with ties to the Chinese government. Their difficulty raises questions about the legal community's willingness to face sticky issues. Only eight of Hongkong's nearly 450 law firms have turned down the case, but all eight had been selected as likely to take it. In response, the Law Society may create firmer guidelines for turning down cases.
