However, analysts predict that Asian markets will outdistance Australia by the end of 2001 if they mimic U.S. interest rate cuts to boost their export-driven economies.

Many China-related investments are starting to appear on the Australian stock market. Aside from presenting favorable stock investment opportunities, the Australian Stock Exchange (ASE) is more liberal in allowing foreign-based investments to list. One of the upcoming China-based investments in the ASE is AusChina, which is planning to capitalize on inexpensive stock offerings in Australia.

The number of casinos listed at the Australian Stock Exchange has grown to seven, with the launching of Sydney Harbour Casino Holdings Ltd.'s stocks in Jun. 1995. Analysts believe that casino stocks are highly-profitable investments due mainly to the strong influx of tourists in Australia. Moreover, they predict that casino stocks will continue to be strong especially during the 2000 Summer Olympics, which will be held in Sydney, Australia.
