U.S. marines capture arms depot

Article Abstract:

US marines participating in Operation Restore Hope raided an arms depot on Jan 7, 1993, that belonged to Mohammed Farah Aidid. The Mogadishu depot was one of several camps where Aidid's militia had agreed to store their arms after the arrival of the marines.

Cease-fire takes hold

Article Abstract:

The cease-fire that began Mar 3, 1992, under arrangements made by the United Nations has subdued the civil war. Fifty United Nations observers will monitor the cease-fire. Emergency food shipments began on April 30, 1992.
