Tracking family businesses and their owners over time: Panel attrition, manager departure and business demise

Article Abstract:

In a study done to find out the continued involvement of the owner-manager in the business and the continuity of the business for a longer period of time, analysis of the owner-manger responses on viewing business as a success with his continued involvement and when he ceases to manage the business,is done. A business is not considered to be a failure when the business owner is no longer managing it and any changes occurring should be thought of as developments.

The transacting cognitions of nonfamily employees in the family businesses setting

Article Abstract:

Using transaction cognition theory, this paper identifies thinking patterns needed by nonfamily members of employees of a family-owned company to effectively interact within the company. The paper concludes with an overview of transaction cognition theory contribution to theory building.
