Advantages and disadvantages of E/C international standards

Article Abstract:

Higher competitiveness and worldwide market are often associated with companies having ISO, or International Organization for Standardization series of quality standards for engineering and construction. Companies with ISO series of quality standards also have easier access on global operation. On the other hand, study shows that it often results to higher internal costs and temporary disruption of business operation due to modification of processes and procedures. Having an ISO series of quality standard also requires external costs for audit and registration.
