The performance of an NHS Trust board: actor's accounts, minutes and observations

Article Abstract:

Increasingly, public sector organizations in Britain are adopting the board structure of private sector corporations, but there has been very little research into the operation of corporate boards and that which is available is unreliable. Details of an 18-month study of a National Health Service trust board of directors are presented. The study concludes that the board's practical contribution to the governing of the trust is marginal.

Models of change agency: a fourfold classification

Article Abstract:

A selective, critical and synthetic review of some of the literature and empirical research on change agency is presented. Based on this review a fourfold classification of change agency models is proposed which includes leadership, management, consultancy and team models.
