Peter Irvine, chief executive of Gloria Jean's Coffees chain, now bigger in Australia than in the US where it was founded, believes that they run their own destinies, the average price of a Gloria Jean's franchise being $400,000. Other growth stories are Fred Marfleet's Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA), which averaged $5.5 million in 2002-03, believes that franchisees are good quality people.
