Telecommunication services industry

Article Abstract:

The Federal Communications Commission's ability to regulate local telephone companies under the Telecommunications Act of 1996 was curtailed by the US Court of Appeals in July 1997, and this may delay competition. In addition, wireless has become a growth segment, local Bell companies are attempting to return to the long-distance market, and industry mergers continue. There are some good telecommunication stocks for investor selection in 1997 and 1998.
