School admission denied in race trial

Article Abstract:

A Boston, MA, judge denied Julia McLaughlin admission to the Boston Latin School on Aug 28, 1995. The public school had admitted 103 minority students with lower test scores than McLaughlin, and the student's father is suing the school for reverse discrimination.

Article Abstract:

A model is developed of strategic behavior in litigation. Informational use, and strategy are considered. Parameters are developed for the decision to bring to trial or not to bring to trial or to settle. The litigation process is found to be inefficient.
