Article Abstract:
Inventory theory problems usually estimate demand distribution parameters using historical data. Situations under which a better choice of estimators can reduce the cost due to statistical estimation are examined. The tests assume demand to be identically and independently distributed and lead time to be known. Results indicate that the sample mean and standard deviation are outperformed by an exponentially smoothed average and a modified exponentially smoothed mean absolute deviation.

Article Abstract:
Recent research has focused on a new analytical approach to the assessment of strategic coalignment. It has found that companies should focus on specific effectiveness profiles, taking into account the configuration or unique gestalts which apply to that particular company. Further research into how comparisons regarding the degree of 'strategic fit' between firms should be undertaken may prove valuable.

Article Abstract:
Research examining three work-in-process inventory drive systems to compare three operational measures of performance is presented. It is suggested that word-in-process inventory that is in excess of minimal requirements may have a negative effect on the outcome of performance measurement.
