Publishing industry
Article Abstract:
The maturation of traditional publishing markets in the US is the single most important issue for the industry, and the industry can no longer rely on expansion and growth for earnings. However, new technology and media, new non-traditional markets, and cost-cutting at some companies are helping to revitalize earnings in this sector. There are few timely stocks in this industry in 1999, as the future is uncertain, but several do have price appreciation potential for the next three to five years.

Article Abstract:
Analysts give a low timeliness rating to the publishing industry, with the exception of educational publishing, which is expected to surge as many school districts select new textbooks. In spite of lower paper prices, profits have shown slow growth. Good prospects are predicted for selected publishers including Graphic Industries, Deluxe Corp. and Banta Corp.
