Weiman made his money by building strong foundations to several businesses in the 1980s and 1990s, including HiSoft Computers, which grew to $225 million in revenue by 1989 when he and his partners sold out and CTS Travel.

In 1997, 42 percent of families running a private family business planned to sell within 10 years and nearly 60 percent of family businesses chief executives wanted to retire within that time.
