Get certified!

Article Abstract:

Certified management accountant (CMA) Kevin V. Fitzgerald advocates the establishment of the CMA as a required certification for all accountants. Fitzgerald's assertion took root when he decided to take the CMA exam as a result of his company's CMA study program. Preparing for the CMA exam was a learning experience that gained for Fitzgerald a wealth of technical knowledge and provided the inspiration to share the learning process with others through a teaching stint at Pace University. Fitzgerald believes that the CMA certification will prove to be very useful to graduating accounting students and practicing accountants as acceptance of the certification becomes widespread.

"Should I start my own business?" (Managing Your Career)

Article Abstract:

Looking for work or new business ventures demands as much time and attention as do current job undertakings. Starting a business is hard work. Entreprenuers usually work many hours a week and give their product or service constant care and evaluation. They also devote much time to selling in and looking for new markets. Any business venture, to be successful, must be based on sound foundations. Entrepreneurs must have an established business plan, consult experts in areas unfamiliar to them, explore opportunities offered by flourishing industries, and search for new markets for their products.
