Electrical equipment industry

Article Abstract:

Globalization, increased market penetration, and new product development are some of the methods by which companies in the electrical equipment industry expect to grow earnings in the future. Many also are expected to achieve better earnings through selected divestitures and acquisitions, along with productivity enhancements in good times and bad. Few stocks in this industry are timely in 1997, but several have growth potential through the year 2002.

Electrical equipment industry

Article Abstract:

There is little competition or product overlap in the electrical equipment industry, and there is broad diversity and multiple product lines for most companies, which makes stock selection difficult. Acquisitions and spin offs have been common trends within the industry during the mid-1990s, as well. Investors should concentrate on more timely stocks, since the electrical equipment industry is in the lowest quartile of investment timeliness.

Electric equipment industry

Article Abstract:

Stocks of the electrical equipment industry fell about 25% during the 3rd qtr of 1998, compared to an average drop of 14% of the market as a whole for that period, owing to global uncertainty and other problems. Industry earnings have improved, however, due to better margins and top-line growth. Investors should consider these stocks only on an individual basis as the industry is below-average in timeliness for late 1998.
