First Data Corp., which already owns the money transfer firm Western Union, is moving to acquire ATM network operator Concord EFS for $7 billion. The deal calls for First Data to pay $15-a-share for Concord, but that price could vary based on stock market moves. Canadian National Railway has filed with federal regulators in an attempt to win approval for its proposed $2.4 billion acquisition of Illinois Central Corp. The acquisition would combine the north and south continental freight markets in the US. Canadian National believes it will see approximately $216 million a year in revenues and cost savings when the acquisition is completed.
