Issues are presented concerning the growth which is expected to occur in the political power of consumers in the information age. The pricing policy of the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission is discussed.

Import monopolies should go

Article Abstract:

Import monopolies have been used to regulate the prices of books and other products since the early twentieth century in Australia. These monopolies have many disadvantages for Australia and should be abolished.
