Non-government organizations (NGOs) are termed as the new missionaries of the Third World and their most effective contribution is instilling self-reliance and playing a critical role in helping poor countries protect their environments as their economies expand. NGOs have played a major role in environmental protection work and a United Nations study found that climate changes cost the world $80 billion in 2003.

Beware the predator

Article Abstract:

Some non-government organizations (NGOs) represent social engineering at its worst as they continue to boom in the Third World, as it took one NGO to blow the whistle on child laborers who sewed Pakistan's footballs, but it took another to show that the ban drove a family-based cottage industry into corporate hands. Most successful NGO efforts are better organized in developing countries.

Article Abstract:

Melbourne has been declared as the best liveable city in the world. Victoria stands to benefit enormously due to its high standard of living, large skilled workforce, and competitory prices, in spite of high levels of industrial disputes, stamp and payroll taxes.
