CPM scheduling and its use in today's construction industry
Article Abstract:
Critical path method scheduling proves to be highly useful in planning and coordinating work in several major projects. The use of CPM scheduling, which involves the creation and use of a detailed work plan that graphically illustrates the construction logic of the project, results in identification of relationships and dependencies between total project network activities. Together with a well-thought-out project, the use of CPM scheduling enables construction firms to identify relationships between nonconstruction and construction activities that will affect performance.

Total constructability management: a process-oriented framework
Article Abstract:
The Construction Industry Institute defines constructability as the optimum use of construction knowledge and experience in planning, design, procurement and field operations in pursuit of project objectives. Following the formal introduction of the term in 1986, constructability has been the focus of extensive research, particularly with regards to its concepts, implementation, costs and benefits. Results of a study on constructability by Chandrika Vardhan and J.K. Yates are presented.
