McClellan suffered a blood clot in his brain that was surgically removed during his supermiddleweight boxing match against Nigel Benn on Feb 26, 1995. The severity of the injury prompted some to call for a ban on boxing, but such action is unlikely to occur.

Newcomer wins Pa. Senate nomination

The 1992 Democratic nomination for the Senate seat held by Arlen Specter was won by Lynn Hardy Yeakel. Yeakel's campaign focused on Specter's role in the 1991 Anita Hill hearings. Specter won the Republican nomination.
