Are you ready for an overseas assignment?

American expatriates are preferred over home country employees because the former are equipped with global skills, possess substantial company knowledge, and are capable of advancing new projects. Prospective overseas workers should carefully examine the advantages and disadvantages of an expatriate assignment by evaluating personal, professional and financial considerations. All costs to be incurred should be covered by the company. Relocation specialists will be very helpful during the transfer process. Prospective expatriates should also familiarize themselves with the country's culture and learn the country's language. Daily life will have a different pattern and there will be cultural variances in work. Preparations for repatriation will also need extensive planning.
