Australia's telecommunications company AAPT Ltd., is embarking on a strategy to be perceived as a competitive multi-service provider with its plans to spend more than $700 million on a mobile phone network, a wireless local telephony network, and an electronic commerce business. In addition, AAPT plans to seek strategic business and Internet content-related alliances, notably with Telecom New Zealand Ltd. AAPT will spend more than $350 million on establishing a code division multiple access (CDMA) mobile network and $250 million on local multi-point distribution service (LMDS) signals.
