Australia's market for information technology (IT) systems for the health industry is forecast to reach a value of A$2.8 billion by 2004, from an estimated A$1.76 billion in 2000. Health organizations invest an average of 35% of their overall capital budget in IT, with the large growth in health IT having been boosted by changes to the government's practice-incentives scheme for GPs.
