Article Abstract:
In the Big Five accounting sector, companies are focusing more on employee retention than employee recruitment. Consultants often quit because of stress and lack of work-home life balance. To retain and motivate employees, employers have created technological "solution centers" nearer their homes, increased employee-management feedback and flexible hours, formed a network of people to take care of home repairs while employees are at work, and developed exercise opportunities. As a result, at Andersen Consulting, the firm now loses about 14-15% of consultants annually, down from 17.5% in 1998.
